"You can't give what you don't have."
A believer of this saying, Ms. Joanna Mariz Alcachupas, was a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in English in Philippine Normal University-Manila. At her age of 20, she became one of the instructors in STI College Calamba and she is now in her first year of teaching. Her parents never told her of what course to take. She was just advised by them that she should choose the profession she really love so that she won't have any regrets. Because it was her dream and she was inspired by her mother, she chose to be a teacher. For her, teaching is a profession where someone can never stop learning. Learning new things everyday is the vital part in the life of a teacher. According to her, no teacher could teach his students if he doesn’t continue to learn for himself; just as what the saying she believed in points out. In the field of teaching, she learned that patience is the key to help the students; patience in making the students understand the topic; patience in looking for techniques which are best-suited in the learning of the students; and patience in correcting their mistakes. When asked about why teaching differs from other professions, she said, "I think teaching is different from other professions because it is the foundation of every profession."
